Mumbai: Trujet, owned and operated by Hyderabad-based Turbo Megha Airways Private Ltd., will double its fleet size and destinations served in India by end of this year. The scheduled airline company, which started operations with Hyderabad as its hub in 2015, currently has five ATR-72 carriers in its fleet serving 14 destinations in the South.

According to a company official, the airline company will be adding six more ATRs into its fleet by this year-end, enabling it to start operations to 10 more destinations which were allotted to the company under the second UDAN bidding.

Trujet was allotted five destinations under the first UDAN bidding and was the first carrier to connect all the five destinations allotted to it. These destinations include Cuddapah, Nanded, Bellary, Mysore and Salem.

Besides these RCS destinations, Trujet connects to Goa, Tirupati, Aurangabad, Vijayawada, Rajamundri, Mumbai, Chennai, Bellari, Vidyanagar, etc.  With the current fleet, the airline undertakes 32 daily operations, out of which 18 are covered under RCS. “Our rates start as low as Rs. 699,” the official said.

To service the new destinations in the Eastern and Western parts, which the company won in the second UDAN bidding, the airline will station two airplanes in Guwahati and Ahmedabad respectively. They will connect to Keshod, Kandla, Rupsi, Tezu, Nashik, Jalgaon, Jaisalmer, Cooch Behar, Porbandar and Buranpur, the official said.

Trujet has entered into some agreement with Jet Airways for wet lease of some ATR aircrafts recently. When asked about the distribution model, the official said that they have a robust booking system supported by their own website, call center bookings, etc.
“We also have a good network of 2,000 agents selling our tickets,” he added.
