New Delhi: Yas Island Abu Dhabi, the world’s number one integrated entertainment destination, will be developing a new digital platform to woo the new crop of tech-savvy travellers. The new platform will offer a 360-degree virtual tour of the Island and will allow visitors to customise their visit, book their visits, and share experiences online.
Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO, Miral, the promoters of Yas Island, said, “Digital will play a big role in our customer experience. We want to provide a wholesome digital experience for our customers through an app on the iPhone or Android.”
In line with their vision to create a totally interconnected entertainment destination, they are also in the process of introducing new transportation system within the island to make access to various attractions seamless for visitors.
“India along with China is one of the top source markets for Yas Island. Ferrari World is a big draw and very popular with Indian visitors.” Yas Island has recently launched a dedicated digital campaign for India under the ‘Only on Yas’ theme, whereby they have announced attractive packages for Indian families.
“As the number one destination for families, we are confident that Yas Island will continue to attract visitors from the Indian sub-continent, especially with the new additions coming soon at Yas Island.” As per the new package, adults with one kid staying in any hotel in the Island will have free access to the theme park. “This package is only for Indian visitors,” he said.
Being the 10th year of the opening of the destination, Zaabi said that 2018 is a special year for Yas with lot of new openings, events and festivities scheduled throughout the year. While Yas Marina will host the 10th Formula 1 race this year, on the entertainment side two major attractions are slated to open in the Island – Warner Brothers World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park and CLYMB, housing world’s first indoor skydiving and highest climbing wall. “With 110 rides and attractions, 160 restaurants, seven hotels within 25 sq km area, Yas is geared to deliver a unique and immersive experience to visitors,” he informed.
Yas Island also released a calendar of events that are scheduled to happen on the Island this year. “We will have one event every week on the Island,” he said. The Island will have an Indian theme of Festival of Lights for the whole month of October, he added. On future plans, Zaabi said that as per the new vision that was unveiled in 2016, the company is working towards achieving a target of 48 million visitors to the Island by 2022. “We also plan to attract one lakh MICE travellers every year. The hotel inventory in the Island is expected to go up from the current 2,500 rooms to 4,000 rooms by 2022. Around 27.5 million people visited Yas Island in 2017.
