Mumbai: Skål International Bombay hosted its annual Christmas Party, along with the installation of the new President Sk. Sushil Bhatt, with his Board Members. Members turned up in large numbers, and the event was well attended along with spouses and guests. The programme was sponsored by PayU and Destination Canada, along with hampers from partners Oman Air, VisitBritain, Emirates, and also from members of the Club. The event was attended by members of sister Clubs from Trivandrum, Hyderabad and Pune.

The Guest of Honour was Annie Dube, Consul General of Canada in Mumbai. She spoke of the warm connections between our countries and the intriguing opportunities Canada has for Indians. Canada is proud to have a large diaspora of Indians and is very open to growing tourism from here. Carl Vaz, MD, Destination Canada, India also shared the myriad profitable business opportunities for agencies selling the destination.

Apurva Sharma, Regional Sales Head, PayU spent quality time interacting with the Club members, and presented how PayU can serve as a powerful solution in growing their business, by harnessing the power of technology and offer added convenience to their customers. In addition, Ms. Sharma shared that PayU is working on a platform for revenue generation, which would be an added value to members of the Club.

The Club also took the opportunity to invite Sk. Carl Vaz, National Vice President, Skål International India, to formally complete the Installation Ceremony for the President and new Board members of Skål International Bombay. The Past President Sunil Chopra welcomed Current President Sushil Bhatt to his new role. The new President and his Board in turn, took their Oath as Skål International Bombay Board Members.

The party continued with a special Secret Santa activity for the members. The SVVR NGO, which works with differently abled children, produced special gifts purchased by the Club. These gifts were labelled and handed over to another Skålleague to pass on, with a smile, a hug and a selfie! The members enjoyed the activity and the energy in the room was intense. The party then continued with multiple spot prizes and music leading many onto the dance floor.

Dinner was a lavish spread, and the party continued on for hours, with many Skålleagues celebrating into the wee hours. All in all, a wonderful way to reflect on the year gone by, and cement their strong relationships into 2020.
