Mumbai: Oman Tourist Office India was recently presented with the prestigious WeddingSutra Influencer Award for its contribution in showcasing Oman as a wedding destination through its successful made-for-India brand campaign. Since 2014, Oman has witnessed over 23 per cent growth in Indian arrivals. In 2016, Oman received 2,97,628 Indian arrivals as compared to 2,56,210 arrivals in 2014 that is over 16 per cent growth within 2 years.

In 2017, Oman received 3,21,161 Indian arrivals showcasing growth of over 7.90 per cent. On achieving this honor, Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman, said: “Over the past few years, we have strived to elevate Oman as a key luxury asset to Indians. From a country that was rarely considered a holiday getaway to be received as one of the most sought-after wedding destination is a remarkable shift we have been able to ascertain in India.”

“ This seed of change has only been possible with our focused efforts in recognising the potential of the country that went beyond just the culture and history of Oman, but also showcasing it as an ideal wedding destination offering breathtaking landscapes, luxurious hotels, excellent air connectivity, simplified visa process and flexibility.”

The awards hosted by WeddingSutra recognise the exceptional contribution of inspiring professionals from the world of fashion, beauty and advertising intersected with the world of weddings. The selection process involved a comprehensive engaging discussion on how does one define influence and creativity. The winners were chosen collectively by a panel of esteemed jury members comprising some of the most prominent names in India across fashion, retail, media and hospitality, including Manish Malhotra, Couturier; Tina Tahiliani Parikh, Executive Director, Ensemble; Jaspreet Chandok, Vice President , IMG Reliance; Pradeep Guha ,Chairman , 9X Media; Taljinder Singh, Area Director, Mumbai Hotels and General Manager, The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai, among others.
