DRMumbai: Maldives has been nominated for Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination at the 4th Annual World Spa Awards 2018, slated to be held at the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort on the October 26. World Spa Awards, a sister event of World Travel Awards, was launched in 2015. Renowned as the Oscars of the industry, the Spa awards was constituted to foster a new era of growth in spa tourism. Spa and relaxation are the main segments of the destination as Maldives boasts of having the top spas in the world.
Maldives opened the first ever underwater spa in the world in Huvafen Fushi in 2004. This addition took the spa industry to a whole new level. Maldives won the Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination Award at the World Spa Awards in 2015. The country has been retaining the title for the past three years consecutively. Voting opens on May 1 and closes on August 17, 2018.
