Colombo: SriLankan Airlines launched a promotional collaborative campaign with Invest Victoria during Australia’s tour of India for a one day cricket series, to create awareness of its premium route to Melbourne with an offer of discounts. It also launched a social media competition on the airline’s Facebook India page to win free tickets during the cricket series.

Saminda Perera, General Manager for Marketing at SriLankan, said, “Australia’s one day tour of India is a wonderful opportunity to showcase one of the Airline’s most premium routes.”  The promotion includes an exciting ‘Hit-a-Sixer’ competition at www.melbournedaily.srilankan.com where competitors try to score three consecutive sixers and win a pair of free return tickets to Melbourne from any Indian city served by SriLankan. It also provided a value-for-money deal with 20 per cent off on bookings to Melbourne made up to March 14, 2019, with the travel time being up to November 15, 2019.

There were constant reminders during every match on LED perimetre branding at the stadiums, giant LED scoreboard screens, social media, cricketing website and mobile app portal Cricbuzz and SriLankan’s Facebook page ‘SriLankan Airlines India’. The campaign also included celebrity cricketing commentators such as Ajay Jadeja, Zaheer Khan and Gaurav Kapur. SriLankan operates 119 flights per week out of 12 cities in India.

Passengers will enjoy the comforts of the airline’s modern Airbus A330 aircraft between Melbourne and Colombo, with sophisticated in-flight entertainment and world class service provided by SriLankan’s award winning cabin crew. SriLankan Airlines operates a route network of 111 cities in 48 countries from its hub in Colombo and also connects to over 1,000 cities in 160 countries through its oneworld partner airlines.
