Thiruvananthapuram: For tourists visiting the capital city for the first time, the harrowing site surfing to find nearby attractions will soon be passé with the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) set to launch its ‘Bus Tour Project’ this week. The daily tours will take travellers to destinations like Kanyakumari and Ponmudi and tourist attractions within the city limits. Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, will flag off two luxury buses handed over to KTDC by the Tourism Department on February 15.
The KTDC, which is in possession of three such 24-seater and AC luxury buses, will take the third one to Kochi for a similar purpose, and is mulling expansion of the project to other cities like Kozhikode in future, said Corporation Chairman M Vijayakumar. The tours in Thiruvananthapuram have been christened ‘Glorious Thiruvananthapuram’, covering city attractions, ‘Refreshing Ponmudi’ and ‘Mesmerising Kanyakumari’, while those in Kochi are titled “Kochi Splendid’ and ‘Ultimate Kochi’.
The city tours will be conducted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, while the trip to Kanyakumari will be operated on all days except on Mondays. The Ponmudi trip has been designed for employees of various companies in Technopark and the bus will start from the campus at noon on all Saturdays.
