Thiruvanathapuram: The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation’s (KTDC) ambitious Luxury Bus Tour Project was flagged off in the capital city by Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism. The Minister expressed hope that the project will be appealing to youngsters to a great extent.

“The Luxury Bus Tour Project comes with five attractive categories: ‘Glorious Thiruvananthapuram’, ‘Mesmerizing Kanyakumari’, ‘Refreshing Ponmudi’, ‘Splendid Kochi’ and ‘Ultimate Kochi’. The government will also take efforts to extend the project to places including Kozhikode and Wayanad,” the Minister said.

The project aims to offer travellers daily tours in comfortable coaches, accompanied by expert guides. M Vijayakumar, Chairman, KTDC, said: “The buses have been equipped with most modern facilities. KTDC has introduced three luxury buses as part of the project. Phase I of the project will be rolled out in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.”

The Thiruvananthapuram Tour, which will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, will cost Rs. 899 per person. The Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari trips on Mondays will cost Rs.1,500. The price for the Refreshing Ponmudi package has been pegged at Rs.2,655. Accommodation will also be provided at KTDC’s Ponmudi Golden Peak Hotel.

The Splendid Kochi package, which starts from Bolgatty Palace, will cover places including Mattancherry, Fort Kochi and Trippunithura Palace, while the Ultimate Kochi package will include trips to Cherai Beach. Both the packages will cost Rs.1,000. Trained guides will be deployed in the 24-seater luxury buses. Announcements in the buses will be made in Malayalam, Hindi and English.
