Mumbai: Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier of Indonesia, will further strengthen its global presence by opening of a new direct flight from Mumbal to Denpasar. This new service will offer a variety of connecting flights to Indonesia for Indian tourists as the airline has been serving Jakarta-Mumbai route since 2016.

Pahala N Mansury , President & CEO, Garuda Indonesia, said, “The opening of Mumbai – Denpasar route is part of Garuda Indonesia’s international network development programme, particularly in the South Asia region, as the number of Indians visiting Indonesia is projected to touch 5,00,000 in four years compared with 2,62,000 in 2015, according to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.”

Pahala said, “Our new service will provide seamless connection between Mumbai to Denpasar and offer the comfort and convenience of Indonesian hospitality through Garuda Indonesia’s authentic inflight service for travellers from Mumbai.”  This new direct flight will connect Indian travellers to other exotic tourism destination in Indonesia, including Banyuwangi, Labuan Bajo, and Lombok.

“The new service is part of our commitment to continuously support the Indonesia Ministry of Tourism’s mission to increase the number of tourist arrivals to Indonesia, especially from India. To support the joint synergies of both countries, Garuda Indonesia continues to maximize the connectivity between the two countries.”

The number of Indian tourists visiting the country has increased by 21.6  per cent in 2017, the highest growth compared to the number of visitors from other countries. Meanwhile, Bali is still the prime tourism destination for India travellers in Indonesia.

“Today, India remains a partner in growth as well as an important market for Indonesia. We are optimistic that the opening of our new service will forge an even more solid bridge in enhancing the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and India. We believe that Mumbai is a potential market for us.”

The Mumbai – Denpasar route will be served twice a week (Monday and Thursday) and will be increased to three times a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday).
