New Delhi: The Turkish Culture and Tourism board in India will be conducting a tourism roadshow and destination workshop in six cities across India from October 8 to 13, 2018.

Deniz Ersöz, Culture & Tourism Counsellor, Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in India said, “India is a very important market. We are aware of the potential it holds in terms of inbound visitor traffic to Turkey. Turkey and India enjoy warm relations and also share a close historical relationship with strong cultural links. We aim to tap the important cities through our six-city roadshow where we will interact with agents and update them about Turkey’s latest offerings.”

The roadshow takes off from Aerocity’s Andaz in New Delhi on October 8 followed by Radisson Blu Hotel in Ahmedabad on October 9, Kolkata’s The Park  on October 10, Radisson Blu Hotel in Chennai on October 11, The Park in Bangalore on October 12 and The St. Regis in Mumbai on October 12.

The aim of the roadshow will be to interact with stakeholders, agents, policy makers and travellers in these cities on current tourism offerings by Turkey and create more awareness on destinations.

The roadshow will also help in positioning Turkey as a leisure, wedding and MICE destination among Indian travellers. Ersöz added, “In 2017, Turkey hosted more than 32 mn international tourists while from India the number was 87,000. This year, from January to July, we recorded a 25 per cent increase in the number of overall tourists. That means we will be hosting 40 mn international tourists by the end of 2018. When we look at figures from India, we see a 95 per cent increase for the same period. If this trend continues we will be hosting almost 2 lakhs Indian tourists by the year-end.”

Turkey has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, culture and commerce and it is imperative that the scope of engagement between both countries should now be taken to the second level. India is one of the most crucial and promising tourism markets for Turkey. The number of Indian tourist arrivals, Indian weddings in Turkey and MICE engagements is increasing steadily which is a good sign. The hotels and resorts in Turkey are witnessing a significant surge in tourist arrivals. The heavy turnout at beach hotels and resorts has exceeded expectations.

The six-city promotional roadshow will also have participation from Turkish Airlines, luxury hotels and important delegates and officials from Turkey. The Turkish delegates will interact with agents and share insights on how to sell Turkey as a destination.
