Mumbai: Vietnam Tourism held a four-city roadshow in December along with Om Tourism titled ‘A Timeless Charm for Indian Tourists’. Pham Sanh Chau, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, Nepal and Bhutan addressed the trade partners in Mumbai as part of the roadshow which also visited New Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar. The Vietnamese trade delegation included Threeland Travel, Melia Hotels International, Orchid Global, Hello Vietnam, Victoria Tour, Hello Asia Travel and Thai Airways.

“Direct flights have been an issue,” admitted Ambassador Chau. “I am working to highlight this with the authorities in India and my country. Once we have direct air connectivity, tourism will explode.” The visiting delegation conducted product presentations and business discussions with Indian travel trade organisations. Ambassador Chau said Vietnam has witnessed about 30 per cent growth in inbound tourism and last year clocked 16 million FTAs.

He highlighted that Vietnam has so much to offer like the world’s best sandy beaches, eight UNESCO® World Heritage Sites, an abundance of Indian culture reflected in their numerous temples and to the delight of Indian travellers, many Indian restaurants.
