The national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman has added two more exotic destinations to its ever expanding network – four weekly flights to Alexandria and a daily flight to Athens
Taking its name from the ancient Greek king, Alexander the Great, the Egyptian port city of Alexandria has a recorded history that extends back in time to almost two and half millennia. Located on the central, northern edge of Egypt, and washed by the waters of the Mediterranean, Alexandria now offers visitors a fascinating combination of things to see and do; the best of both the ancient and modern world.
Starting June 1, Oman Air also commenced daily flights to Athens, the capital of Greece. Oman Air flights to Athens, WY 193, depart Muscat at 14:35 and reach Athens at 19:50 hrs. The return flight WY 194 will depart Athens at 00:20 and arrive in Muscat at 07:15 hrs. The flight duration is approximately six hours. Oman Air flies into the Athens International Airport. Home of ancient civilisation, Athens is at the centre of Greece’s economic, historical and cultural heritage. As one of the oldest cities in the world, the vibrant city has much to offer Oman Air guests travelling to this destination. Athens, with its tall buildings and contemporary shops, is the first European city when approached from the Middle East.
The historical centre of Athens is the most important area of the city for the thousands of tourists who visit the Greek capital to admire the shrine of Democracy – the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the museums and the monuments and theatres from the glorious past of Athens.Oman Air flies to 11 destinations in India, with daily flights to Goa, Thiruvananthapuram and Jaipur, up to twice daily to Chennai, Lucknow, Kochi and Bengaluru, and up to three flights a day to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kozhikode. “We have 27,000-odd seats in India per week across 167 departures,” informed Sunil V A, Regional Vice President, India Sub-Continent, Oman Air. “Indian carriers are currently utilising about 60 per cent of reciprocal seat capacity which is adding another 16,000-plus seats.”
