Mumbai: Air Tanzania, the national carrier of United Republic of Tanzania has launched a direct flight from Mumbai to Dar Es Salaam. The six-hours-20-minutes-long flight departs Dar Es Salaam at 19.30 hrs and arrives Mumbai at 4.20 hrs (IST). It departs Mumbai at 5.50 hrs and reaches Dar Es Salaam at 9.40 hrs (Eastern Africa Time).

Air Tanzania will operate three flights a week from Mumbai on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The launch of direct flight to India is being seen as one of the biggest moves by Air Tanzania to boost connectivity to India, which is a key tourism market and trade partner for Tanzania. The introduced time slot is expected to prove convenient for both leisure and business travellers, as the flights arrive in Dar Es Salaam in the morning at 9.40 hrs (EAT) and return at 19.30 hrs from Dar Es Salaam on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Ladislaus Matindi, MD & CEO, Air Tanzania said, “To serve the significant volume of traffic with high quality service, we have deployed a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 264 seats and Airbus 220 with 130 seats, both with business and economy classes.” From Dar Es Salaam as a hub, passengers can travel onwards to different regions in Tanzania (Bukoba, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Iringa, Mtwara, Mbeya, Mwanza, Tabora, Zanzibar, Kigoma) and other African destinations like Bujumbura (Burundi), Hahaya (Comoros), Entebbe (Uganda), Lusaka (Zambia), Harare (Zimbabwe) and Johannesburg (South Africa) on Air Tanzania.
