Mumbai: The Cape Town Ziplines, an SA Forest Adventures initiative, re-opened in Silvermist Estate on Hout Bay Road. Following a two-year closure, the site has been re-opened with GoPro partnering with Cape Town Ziplines last month. Reported as one of the brands top selling products, the partnership marks the first GoPro resort partnership on African soil.

Donald Grant, Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works, who was present at the official re-opening, said, “Tourism has long been identified as a key driver of the Western Cape’s economy and forms part of our economic growth strategy, Project Khulisa. This zipline, as an addition to our many tourist attractions, will not only expose visitors to this area’s natural beauty and distinctly South African topography, but will also offer a unique experience to our visitors, unlike that which they may have experienced elsewhere.”

The 2.3-km Zipline tour is one of Africa’s longest and highest situated in the heart of the Mother City, easily accessible from all major transport routes, including the Hop-on, Hop-off City Sightseeing Cape Town Bus. The excursion starts with an exhilarating 4×4 trail up the mountain. Boasting views of the southern side of Table Mountain as well as the Constantia Winelands stretching across to Muizenberg, the 240-m-long cable suspended 70 m above ground marks the start of the adventure. Cables range from 190 m to just under 500 m, with the tour lasting around two hours.

Silvermist Estate has a number of facilities including a restaurant, conference facilities and other team building options. On the importance of attractions in the tourism offering, Judy Lain, Chief Marketing Officer, Wesgro, said, “SA Forest Adventures has taken a beautiful natural environment and created an experience that will attract local and international visitors, all within the guidelines of responsible tourism. Hiring staff from the community, the zipline has created the much needed permanent employment in the area.”

Clinton Lerm, owner of SA Forest Adventures, added: “We are thrilled to reopen one of Cape Town`s top tourism attractions. Cape Town Ziplines forms an integral part of our South African product offering and within minutes of reopening our bookings we were swamped with inquiries. Our Zipline Tour in Cape Town offers first time and seasoned thrill seekers the opportunity to experience a zipline adventure in an environment unlike any other. Most of our Staff have been unemployed since we closed, we were over the moon to welcome them back and two days after the go-ahead we were operational again in-part to the commitment from all our staff members.”
