Qingdao: World MICE Day 2018, the third edition of China’s MICE conference, was held from October 25 to 27 in Qingdao, China. The conference was organised by BIT Congress, Inc. and hosted by CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade) at Qingdao International Conference Centre.

This year’s show has beaten its record from last year in terms of number of participants and key figures. Around 1000 participants took part in the conference with the highest turnout from Europe. World MICE Day is an opportunity for participants to attend forums, symposiums and social networking events; conduct on-site contract signings and make one-to-one appointments. Participant institutions comprised PCOs, agencies, company buyers, convention & exhibition centres, hotels, IT companies, media companies, associations, colleges, CVBs and others.

The pre-conference day was marked by a Hosted Buyers Ice Breaker event. It was held in Tsingtao Beer Museum, helping participants discover Chinese beverages and relax after the long
journey. The next three days of the conference had the Global MICE Industry Trend Summit,
Global Convention Venue Leadership Forum, ACTE-Global Corporate Travel Forum, Event Technology Innovation Forum, Convention Venue Operation Forum, Next-gen MICE Leaders Forum, Qingdao trip-tour and the much-awaited Gala Dinner.

The keynote speakers for WMD 2018 were Haiying Liu, Former Vice President, Beijing North Star Events, China and Rob Davidson, Managing Director, MICE Knowledge, UK. Over 17-plus college students participated in the Next-Gen MICE Young Leaders Forum. The Gala Dinner was celebrated at Qingdao International Conference Centre.

The most awaited part of the Gala Dinner was the Golden Camel Award. The Gold Camel Award is meant to encourage people with outstanding performance in the MICE industry and representatives from innovative corporates to set a benchmark.

The Award had six different categories and received more than 40,000 votes for various categories including Outstanding Convention Hotels & Convention Centers; Outstanding PCO Award; Rising Star of Conference Service Team; The ‘Belt and Road’ Friendship Award and more. World MICE Day 2019 will be held in Qingdao, China from October 25 to 27.
