Mumbai: As part of a plan to highlight Bahrain’s overall tourism offering, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) conducted roadshows in India, in Chennai and Bengaluru. The roadshow witnessed a delegation of Bahrain Tourism officials, as well as Bahrain’s leading hotels and destination management companies.

Yousef Alkhan, Director of Marketing & Promotion, BTEA said, “It was successful roadshow. We were delighted to receive such a great response in both the cities. The purpose of this roadshow was to increase awareness and visibility of the destination amongst the travel agents in these cities by providing them all the information and support directly from our partners. All the travel agents and tourism professionals were provided with the latest information and updates on Bahrain’s touristic offerings through a presentation followed by B2B sessions. We hope this roadshow will give a positive result in terms of increase in arrivals to Bahrain from India.”

Commenting on the roadshow, Sunil Mathapati, Country Manager, BTEA said, “We wanted to create awareness in other markets in India. Chennai and Bengaluru are the biggest source markets to promote Bahrain as a tourist destination. Bahrain being just four hours from India, becomes an apt tourist destination. This roadshow would make travel agents or tour operators informed about the offerings of a new destination and how they can package it for their customers. Bahrain also offers islands, beaches, and desert areas as top locations in order to tap the growing MICE and wedding market. There are seven confirmed weddings from India between November 2018 and April 2019 in Bahrain.”

Various industry partners from Bahrain Tourism and hospitality entities joined the roadshow to promote the country’s unique hospitality services and attractions including Gulf Air, The Ritz-Carlton, Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, Novotel Hotels & Resort, Elite Hospitality Group, Lagoona Beach Resort and destination management companies including Go Gosaibi travels, Mathias Tourism, Lets Go Bahrain, Farhat International Tours & Travels and Bahrain International Travel.

The roadshow saw renowned tour operators and travel agents from both cities. Upcoming events in Bahrain include Shop Bahrain from December 27 to January 31 and Gulf Air Formula One Grand Prix from March 29 to 31, 2019. This was in line with BTEA’s strategy to promote the destination and country’s tourism sector under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours’.
