Mumbai: On the occasion of Women’s Day, Getaway Goddess – the women’s travel vertical of Cox & Kings, hosted a travel talk show at The Good Wife – BKC. The event ‘The Pop-Up Getaway’ witnessed a convergence of women from different facets who have made careers out of their passions which vary from food, art, journalism, photography, blogging and much more. However, it’s their shared love for travel that brought them together at the talk show.
‘The Pop-Up Getaway’ was the conversation starter with eminent panellists like Sucheta Pal – renowned Zumba instructor, Phorum Dalal – freelance food, lifestyle and features writer and Neliswa Nkani – Hub Head – Middle East, India & SE Asia, South Africa Tourism.
The evening saw women engaged in heart-to-heart conversations on different aspects of travel such as motivations to take up a journey, travel aspirations, insecurities among women travellers, safety aspects and challenges, offbeat travel experiences, travel budget and more.
While Phorum spoke on how typical Indian families perceive a single woman travelling on her own, Sucheta narrated exciting travel stories she experienced, like Zumba Cruise and food expeditions in Vietnam to keep the audience engaged. Neliswa urged the audience to understand the people of South Africa first to truly understand the soul of the country.
Speaking on the event, Karan Anand, Head- Relationships, Cox & Kings said, “There is growing trend of the impromptu me-time getaways’ among women travellers who believe that travel helps them to grow professionally and personally. The event highlighted that women like to be their own self while on holiday and look for fun holidays be it with family or without them. They like to seek novelty, excitement and amusement while on a holiday and are also up for adventurous journeys and move out of their comfort zone.”
“Women travellers have faith in extending kindness and compassion towards ‘not so privileged’ people they come across and also believe strongly in responsible travel. More and more women travellers are opting for adventure, culinary, photography and other specially curated tours that matches their individual interest,” added Karan.
The finalists of an online contest organised by Getaway Goddess were also announced during the event. Basis the votes garnered online, out of four finalists Megha Bajaj emerged victorious who won a free getaway to South Africa.
