Mumbai: Issam Kazim, CEO, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) and Priyanka Nijhawan Director, DCTCM – India Representative Office hosted an evening with strategic partners from the Indian travel and aviation space to intensify the ever-growing outbound demand from India and to further boost ties to make 2020 the landmark year for Dubai. The strategies discussed are in line with Dubai’s Tourism Vision for 2025 and lay down a concrete roadmap with the key objective of attracting 23-25 million visitors per year by 2025.

With more than 1.2 million tourists arriving from India in the first eight months of 2019, India continues to top the list of Dubai’s source markets for inbound tourism. Dubai continues to be one of the most connected cities in the world for Indians, with seven airlines currently providing 540 flights per week to the top cities in India. With a flight time under four hours, Dubai makes for the perfect getaway and a destination that can be visited frequently.

Kazim highlighted Dubai’s strategic plan to boost visitor arrivals from India through customised offerings to suit travellers seeking family fun and entertainment, culture and heritage, outdoor adventure, weddings and honeymoons and business events.

Kazim said, “We are working on changing the generally held perception about Dubai being a stopover destination. Dubai offers a plethora of options where one can easily spend 10 days in the city and still not be able to see all the things it has to offer.”

Nijhawan said, “Looking ahead at 2020, we will further optimise our campaigns to attract our key target segments of families, couples and friends/ solo travellers from both Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 cities across India. We will show that there is even more to Dubai than its iconic attractions. Ramadan will be an important focus for us in 2020 as it coincides with summer school holidays in India. Our campaigns will highlight the varied offerings that Indian travellers can look at, making the most of Ramadan season in Dubai including unique cultural experiences, gastronomical delights and great value hotel and shopping deals.”
