With over 600 keys in India and Germany, Tamara Leisure Experiences recently launched
its newest property in Kodaikanal under the Tamara brand of resorts

On the appointment of Shruti Shibulal, S D Shibulal, Chairman of the Board, said, “We are delighted to appoint Shruti as the CEO of Tamara Leisure Experiences. She has led the company in several leadership roles over the past decade. Under her leadership, Tamara Leisure Experiences has grown to 600 keys in India and Germany. The Board believes she is the right person to steer the firm towards high impact business growth.”

Though Tamara has a presence in luxury, mid-market segment and the economy category, it is hoping for a larger play in the mid-market segment in India, particularly in the South. “The mid-market segment is an interesting space to be in now. Religious travel and tourism is very popular in India as about 80 per cent of domestic travel is to religious places.”

As a first step, Tamara is developing a property in Guruvayur, Kerala. “Apart from religious destinations, tier I and II cities also offer huge opportunities in the mid-segment, she added. A luxury resort in Aleppey and a business hotel in Thiruvananthapuram are under development.
