Mumbai: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mumbai office successfully concluded The Amazing Thailand road show in two of the key markets – Chennai and Indore on September 3 and 5, 2018 respectively. The event was attended by over 150 trade partners from the industry that interacted with close to 35 plus Thailand delegates comprising of hotels, airlines, integrated resorts, attractions and Destination Management Companies (DMC).
This year, from January to July, Thailand has already recorded 919,130 tourist arrivals from India a Y-O-Y increase of 13.24 per cent. Generating a total revenue of 41,771 million THB from India accounting to a Y-O-Y increase of 15.39 per cent Thailand crossed 1.2 million for Indian tourist arrivals in 2017 marking a year-on year growth of 20 per cent over the same period in 2016.
With an aim to ensure a steady growth, through these road shows we plan to reach out to newer markets and enhance our association with travel trade partners,” said Walailak Noypayak, Executive Director for Asean , South Asia and South Pacific Region, Tourism Authority of Thailand.
As a part of the promotional campaign Thailand goes all-out to provide a warm, welcoming, adaptive and an overall friendly atmosphere to each guest. These aspects are going to be the guiding pillars of our tourism approach in the coming years.
Cholada Siddhivarn, Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai, said, “Over the years we have seen a rise in the arrivals from India and we strongly believe it’s essential to identify key cities to reach out to our travel trade partners in order to introduce them to newer offers and products the destination has to showcase. We had recently introduced our new marketing concept of “Open to the New Shades of Amazing Thailand”, it is time to emphasis on the new shades of Thai products and services to the industry. Also, it helps us understand the trends in these cities so that we can suggest customized packages as per the requirement. This year we felt it was important to visit Chennai and Indore as we have noticed an increase in arrivals / bookings from this segment”.
She further added “These road shows serves as a platform to not only showcase our destination but also to enhance our relation with our partners in these cities thus ensuring a steady growth of Indian arrivals to Thailand”.
On a global scale, India is ranked 7th in terms of tourist arrivals in Thailand.
