Mumbai: South India Global Tour Operators Association (SIGTOA) beat Akquasun Group to win the third edition of the Emirates Cricket Trade Tournament 2018. The sporting event saw 32 travel agency teams competing for the trophy. A total of 45 matches were played. “Emirates is delighted to nurture camaraderie and sportsman spirit among its travel partner community and in India. What better way to achieve that than to play a game of cricket,” asks Sunil Kallyat, Regional Manager – Western India, Emirates. The event witnessed a galaxy of industry stalwarts, travel trade fraternity members and representatives of co-sponsors and associate partners. The guest of honour for the final match and awards ceremony was the legendary India wicket keeper cum batsman of the 1970s, Farokh Engineer who along with Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Vice President – India & Nepal, Emirates, presented the trophies to the winners. Iqbal Mulla, Chief Counsel, GTC; GMJ Thampy, CMD, Riya Travel & Tours; Pradeep Saboo, Chairman and Managing Director, Guideline Travels and Mahesh Shirodkar, MD, Tamarind Global were some of the dignitaries who attended the awards ceremony. “The tremendous response and success of this tournament have given us the confidence to take this pan India. We will soon announce editions in New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru to start with,” said Ahmad.
