Dubai: Oman Air, the award-winning national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, unveiled the new First Class Mini Suite of its Dreamliner 787-9 fleet on the opening day of ATM 2018 in Dubai. The honours were performed by Maitha Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary, Oman Ministry of Tourism and Vice Chairperson of Oman Air, and Abdulaziz Al Raisi, CEO, Oman Air.

“We are receiving the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner this year and it will feature the First Class Mini Suite. The suite offers unparalleled levels of comfort and ultimate luxury with one of the longest lie-flat seats available on any commercial airliner. It also offers an electronically controlled privacy divider, à la carte dining as well as an in-suite minibar,” said Ihab A Sorial, Senior Vice President, International Sales, Oman Air.

However, it will not fly to India as the market is currently being served by narrow-body aircraft due to the entitlements – seats and frequencies – bound by the bilateral agreement. “We will initially deploy the suite on flights to London and Manchester.”

Oman Air is currently undergoing an exciting fleet and network expansion programme, which will see the airline operate up to 70 aircraft to around 60 destinations by 2022. The airline is committed to constantly improving its product, whilst undergoing its dynamic fleet and network expansion, developing its brand and offering guests an unrivalled experience.

“We are very proud of the new Muscat International Airport terminal. It is truly world-class with many aerobridges ensuring easy accessibility,” Sorial added. “The new Oman Air Premium Lounge is a cut above the rest.” Oman Air is set to add four new destinations in 2018: On June 1, flights will commence to Istanbul, followed by Casablanca on July 1 and Moscow from October 28. In the winter schedule, the national carrier will reopen flights to Maldives.

“We operate 161 frequencies and 27,400 seats a week to India, which is our full entitlement. India is a booming market and our team is doing well. The seats and margins are very good. We are trying to segment better and focus more on the premium category. We are also bullish about MICE.” Oman Air also connects Mainland China with a flight to Guangzhou since December 2016. “Bejing and Shanghai are being explored, but it all depends on the bilateral agreement,” said Sorial.
