Mumbai: A section of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) led by its Secretary Rajesh Mudgill is displeased with the way the Federation of Associations of Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) is ignoring issues raised by the former regarding Indian Tourism Mart (ITM). Issues have surfaced in about IATO’s role in umbrella body FAITH during the monthly meeting.

The problem seems to have started with FAITH ignoring the letters written by the IATO Secretary asking for a resolution of grievances by IATO members who were a part of the recent India Tourism Mart (ITM) organised by FAITH. Apparently, the letters were not entertained as the IATO Secretary has no ‘locus standi’ to write directly to FAITH. This peeved a faction of IATO more so as an IATO nominee occupies the General Secretary’s Chair in FAITH. The EC meeting of IATO held this week in Delhi also saw arguments following which the Secretary staged a walk out.

Mudgill said, “All is not well within FAITH. If they cannot listen to an elected Secretary of an Association which is key constituent of FAITH, then what is the use of having such a body?” A number of members who attended the monthly meeting were of the opinion that IATO should interfere to get refunds from FAITH as the organiser failed to deliver the promises made to exhibitors at India Tourism Mart (ITM).
