This year, music fans and artists from around the world are all set to ring in Europe’s biggest jazz festival in Montreux. One of the most sought-after cultural festivals in Switzerland, the Montreux Jazz Festival, is an iconic two-week long music festival in its 53 edition.

Scheduled from June 28 to July 13 , one of the biggest draws of the festival this year is the legendary Elton John, who will be playing on two nights of the festival as a part of his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Tour’. The Montreux Jazz Festival features new music trends, striking artists and absolute legends from African American and British music celebrating the best of jazz. Festival goers can enjoy an array of over 300 concerts, 3 silent discos, 3 pool parties, DJ sets and workshops this year.

Since its initiation in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has seen some of the greatest stars perform including Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Charlie Mingus and Dexter Gordon. In 1978, Freddie Mercury – the lead singer of rock-band ‘Queen’ came to the Montreux Jazz Festival to record their world-famous album “Jazz”. One of Montreux’s most loved residents – Freddie’s bronze statue on the shores of Lake Geneva is also a must visit for all music fans.
