Utah, a large State in the Western United States, neighbouring Nevada, is looking at the Indian outbound traveller. Rachel Bremer, Global Markets and Destination Development Manager, Visit Utah was in Mumbai recently. China is the number one long haul source market and historically has grown in the double-digit year on year. But thanks to the US-China trade war, YoY growth has declined drastically prompting Visit Utah to dial India. “We are building on awareness working with travel trade partners,” said Bremer. “This year we are focusing on B2B marketing and next fiscal we will start B2C marketing, by which time we will appoint a full-time representative.” Utah’s iconic landscapes have been immortalized in Hollywood films like 127 Hours and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. The State also hosts the Sundance Film Festival. Just one and a half hours by road from Las Vegas, Utah has many national and state parks. “We are promoting self-drives and fly-drives in a big way targeting millennials and family travellers,” added Bremer. “The mountains in the north to the red rocks in the south, the terrain is so Instagram-friendly and offers us a lot of traction on social media.” Utah is not at present a mono-destination; it is part of West Coast itineraries hitting California and Nevada. Trekking and enjoying the outdoors, skiing, beautiful resorts, hot air ballooning, kayaking, road cycling through national parks, clean walkable cities, Utah has a lot to offer. Plus during seasons, game hunting too!
