New Delhi: Bosnia and Herzegovina, a Balkan country that boasts rich natural, cultural and historical heritage, is eying to promote its capital city, Sarajevo as the hub to explore the country as well as the whole Balkan region. The new strategy was revealed during the sales mission conducted by Bosnia and Herzegovina in New Delhi recently. Talking to mediapersons, Muhamed Cengic, Ambassador of Bosnia & Herzegovina to India said Bosnia and Herzegovina has seen good double digit year-on-year growth in tourism arrivals into the country in recent years.

“Bosnia is liked by visitors for its scenice nature, rich culture and varied heritage. Over the last few years, we have been registering a growth of around 12 per cent in tourist arrivals to Bosnia. Now, we want to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina as the hub to explore the larger Balkan region comprising Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and the like. Indian tourists who visited Bosnia have come back with good memories and given excellent feedback about the destination.” In a bid to aggressively promote the destination in the India market, Bosnia and Herzegovina had appointed Nijhawan Group as its representative in India a year ago. “It’s time Indian travellers look beyond Croatia and explore the charming Balkan destinations in Southeast Europe,” Ankush Nijhawan, MD, Nijhawan Group. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Ambassador said that Sarajevo is well-connected via Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, Vienna and Munich. Anyone with a valid Schengen or European Visa can access Bosnia.
