Mumbai: Pronab Sarkar, the incumbent President, and Rajiv Mehra (Uday Tours & Travel) have been elected unopposed as President and Vice President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), the apex body of tour operators in India. Others who won unopposed in the biennial executive committee elections are Ravi Gosain of Erco Travel (Treasurer) and Rajnish Kaistha of Paradise Holidays India (Joint Secretary).
In the voting held on April 28, Rajesh Mudgill, Managing Director, Planet India Travels, got elected as the Secretary and E M Najeeb, Managing Director, Air Travel Enterprises (ATE) Group of Companies, was elected Sr. Vice President.
The new EC members (Active) are Raj Bajaj, Tony Marwah, P S Duggal, Deepak Bhushan, and Vinay Tyagi. Sunil Gupta, Zia Siddique, and Vijay Sarthi were elected from the Allied category. Addressing the members after the results, Pronab Sarkar expressed hope that the new members will usher in renewed vigour and fresh ideas to take the association to newer heights.
